My 5 Favorite Drug Store Foundations! ^_^

Hello and Salaam gorgeous creatures!

Today’s topic…drug store foundations! I have a list of 5 drug store foundations (if you couldn’t tell from the title) that I’ve grown a little fond of. These are affordable, easy to get and for people of my skin tone, easy access. Although, I do feel that there should be more shades than what is in the stores. For women that are very fair or on the deep side of skin tone chart, it becomes quite a quest to find a drug store foundation in their shade so a lot of them shop only in the high end department, which can be expensive. :/

I’m a HUGE Maybelline fan but I had recently crossed the line into L’Oreal foundations. I have oily/normal skin and usually where it’s oily the most is the t-zone area and my cheeks, especially when wearing makeup.

Of course this will be short and sweet, just keep scrolling down. 🙂

When it comes to foundation, I’m always on the lookout for the “holy grail” of foundations.

Above are 5 of my favorite foundations that I either got from Wal*Mart, CVS or Rite Aid. With everything, there are pros and cons. For these being drug store foundations, you kinda get what you pay for. It’s not going to last all day but I usually get through about 8 hours of wear with these…if I manage to do it right.

This picture is without a flash just to show you the texture of the foundations.

  • Maybelline Dream Velvet (Caramel 92): This foundation is quite thick. I tried to blend this out with just a damp beauty blender but it wasn’t having it. I couldn’t get it to spread the way that I wanted it to and it dried fast. I think the best way to use this foundation is to use a dense, flat tip brush and blend in circles. It’s about 3-4 hours before I have to blot my face.
  • Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse (Caramel Dark 2): This foundation isn’t as thick as the previous one. It’s a little more liquidy so it has more give. From my own personal experience with this I feel that it can be blended out with both a sponge and a brush. It doesn’t dry as fast as the Dream Velvet does so you have more time to work with it. For this one it’s about 3 hours before I have to blot.
  • Maybelline Fit Me (Cappuccino 340): I love, love, LOVE the heck out of this foundation! BUT I think that this one is too … orangey. I used to have the one for normal skin but ya girls face like to act up and shine too much. I was thinking if I mix this one with one that is one shade lighter, it might be bomb. It’s pretty thin so it can be blended with a sponge or brush. I prefer a sponge, personally. Idk. Blot time is about 3 hours again.
  • L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte (Soft Sable 111): I don’t know you guys, I don’t know…recently, I’ve been loving L’Oreal products. Normally I’m a Maybelline chick but I’m starting to lean towards L’oreal, for the time being anyways. This matte foundation is super matte. Like, don’t it fool you because it’s not high end. This kept my face matte for about 4-5 hours before blotting, no joke! It’s amazing! This is a thin foundation that can be blended with a sponge.
  • L’Oreal True Match (Creme Cafe W8): This last one is my ultimate favorite out of the bunch. I think that I might have to get another one because this is my go-to foundation. It has a thin consistency so blending with a sponge is easy and no problem. And if I use this with the NYX Shine Killer and L’Oreal Infallible Matte Finishing Spray, it’ll last for hours. Seriously. I was so impressed at the result of using this together. I didn’t have to blot for almost 5-6 hours. By the time the 8th hour came I didn’t want to take the makeup off because of how good it still looked. Definitely 5 out of 5 for this one!

Here is the same picture but with a flash.

That is all that I have to today! Make sure comment what your favorite drug store foundation is, I wanna know! 🙂

Until next time! 😀

BH Cosmetics Palettes And Brushes

Hello and Salaams, guys! For today I have such pretty and interesting things to share with you and they are all colorful, soft and fluffy! ^_^

Recently I bought a few palettes from BH Cosmetics that was completely on a whim. I hadn’t planned on getting anything from them but tax returns said that I needed a few treats for myself. 🙂

In the featured picture you can see 3 palettes, one polka dot brush set, eye essential brush set and a lippie. I have been buying from BH Cosmetics for a few years now and I have loved everything that I have received so far. The quality of the product is amazing, the eyeshadows are super pigmented even on my deep complexion and the wear lasts all day as long as you use a primer. This is the first time however that I bought a lipstick from them.

But let’s get on to the pictures and I’ll give the deats down below under the pictures. 😉

Can we PLEASE give these brushes a hand clap and 2 snaps? These polka dot brushes are soo amazingly soft! And a “YAAASSSS, honey!” to that deluxe fan brush!

All of the brushes in this set come individually wrapped in this polka dot case. You get 11 brushes for $19! 11 Piece Pink-A-Dot Brush Set

You can get your look using these brushes too. Goes perfect with any eyeshadow to make whatever look you want. The brushes are super soft and durable. Very easy to clean too.

This is the box that these brushes come in. Get yourself a box for $10! Eye Essential 7 Piece Brush Set

This is what the matte lipstick comes in. Cute little package. ^_^

This is just a simple swatch on my hand. I love how creamy this matte lippie is. Wonderful product and color!

This is how much product you get this lipstick. I plan on getting a few more colors at some point and sharing them with you all. I really wanna get my hands on those Missy Lynn Lipsticks but they’re out for now. :/ Anyways, you can add to your lipstick collection here for $5.50 a pop! Color Lock Long Lasting Matte Lipstick

Here is a real treat for your lips! 28 different colors for whatever you feel that you need them for. There is something for every shade and skin tone here so you won’t feel left out. The colors are very pigmented (as usual :D) and have a shiny finish. Obviously I didn’t have the chance to try any of these out yet but I’m pretty excited to mix and match to make my own customized look.

And here is what this box looks like. You can get this for $12 on their site. Ultimate Lips 28 Color Lipstick Palette

I really like this one. It has all matte colors with a touch of bold. That green color in the lower left hand corner is bomb! Super matte, super pigmented and long lasted wear throughout the day for an affordable price! Can’t beat that!

Here is what it looks like inside the box. You can get that here for $12: Modern Mattes 28 Color Eyeshadow Palette

Here is what the palette looks like without the box that it came in. As you can see, these eyeshadows have a bit of shimmer to it save 1 or 2. The black part that the eyeshadows sit in is made of plastic. It feels kind of cheap but as long as the product stays put, I’m good. 😀

28 different colors for so many different occasions! This is what the palette comes in. I love how these colors are mostly nude, perfect for everyday use. When I bought this there was a special going on on their site (something like 2 palettes for $14.95) so the prices may differ but you can get this single palette for $12. Essential Eyes 28 Color Eyeshadow PaletteAmazing palette!

That’s all that I have for now! I did manage to pick a the contour palettes from them as well but I’ll save that for another post. Keep an eye out for my video (my YouTube channel) featuring these palettes! ^_^

10 Dollar Mall Haul (sort of) :)

Hello and Salaam you wonderful people! 🙂

I wanted to share what I got from the online store called 10 Dollar Mall (as the title reads). This “haul” isn’t exactly something that is huge since I only picked up a few items but I thought that I should share with those that read my blog.

I’ve been ordering from here for a couple years now. I heard about it from a YouTuber (NaturallyNellzy) and have been hooked since. They also have a lot of different clothing and shoes for both male and female, accessories, purses/bags, jewelry, that you can pick from. The shipping comes through UPS and you can pick from 3 different kinds of deliveries. I ordered this on Friday morning and got it today (2/9/16) and that was with standard shipping.

They are having a sale throughout the whole site right now. I believe that it lasts until tomorrow so you best get on that shopping before it’s done!

With your orders you get invited to share your haul on YouTube if you are interested to do so and they will refund you the shipping. Pretty cool, huh?

These are super cute and simple. Plus they were only $6.49!

Side view!

These are actually a pair of palazzo pants. I love the tribal print because it’s kinda wild. They have a string around the waist that you can loosen or tighten to your own comfort. These were $5.00.

This is a dress that comes down to the knees. I figure that I can lounge around the house with this or run some errands. It’s simple, practical and I believe it was only $7.49.

That’s all that I have. I only got just a few items since I wasn’t in need of anything else. If you are looking for some new threads, shoes, accessories or even something for your dude, this is the place to go!

I have a video up on my channel if you want to check it out. ^_^

December Boxy Charm Box

I know what you’re thinking, “Dude! December Box Charm Box?! That’s soo last month!” And yeah, it literally was last month BUT I have a perfectly awesome reason for not sharing earlier. I don’t have internet, so yet again have to not be lazy and get my b-u-t-t over to the public library to use it. Right now I’m waiting for my child to finish their duct tape bracelet and thought that it would be a great opportunity to share a short post on my oh-so-inactive blog. So without further delay, let’s do this!

Here is a cool picure of my boxy charm goodies! 😀

This stuff right here! I actually haven’t used it yet but it smells like the vacation I can’t afford! 😂

This is oil for the cuticles. Smells amazballz, like roses! 😊

This beautiful liquid lippie from OFRA Cosmetics in the color “Americano”. Love this color! 😍

And here is a swatch of that beautiful liquid lippie!

I love Bella Pierre cosmetics! They have high quality goodness and this is one of them. Gel lip liners are bomb.

There’s a swatch of that….this goes perfect with the liquid lippie!

I’ve never seen beauty papers with gold pieces in it but here it is. These literally have pieces of gold in it, like gold leaf. Very interesting!

A little bit of this goes a loooong way, trust me. This all over body shimmer/highlight smells like caramel popcorn. 😊

And lastly, a huge swatch of that highlight. I didn’t even mean to do that, haha. 😂

That is all I have. I started making this in the beginning of January but didn’t finish it in time soooo I finished it today! 😊

Stay tuned for a post tomorrow of January’s boxy charm box! I haven’t even used those yet, haha.

Flax Seeds For Hair Gel!

Hello and Salaams to all you wonderful people out there that may or may not be reading this post right now! 😀

I thought that I’d share with you all a quick, easy, and inexpensive way to make your own hair gel at home. Usually I go to a beauty store to buy hair gel and usually it ends up making my natural kinks and coils dry and crunchy, which means that I have to fully wet my hair or do a co-wash before one is need. AIN’T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT! So today I’m coming to you with a DIY of flax seed hair gel you can make right in your own kitchen. It’s a lot easier than you think and costs nearly nothing to make, so don’t worry, ya girl has got ya back! 😉

I first came across this flax seed hair gel way back in 2012. That’s when I did my very first b.c. (big chop, for those that may not know). I was searching the web and YouTube for different styles and natural hair products since I was new to it all. I came across Naptural85’s channel and since then, she was my go-to for anything natural hair related. She had a recipe on there on how to make your own flax seed hair gel. At the time I never heard about this but I thought that I’d give it a whirl and see how it would come out. Needless to say, I absolutely LOVED this idea of using all natural items to make hair products and it worked wonderfully! Ever since then, I’ve been making my own gel and tinkering with the recipe here and there. It’s universal so anyone can use it, (unless you’re allergic to flax seeds) and you can whatever you want in it. Now, enough chit-chat, let’s get to the DIY thingy!

To make this gel I used:

  • Organic Coconut Oil
  • Essential Oil (Jasmine) for fragrance
  • 1/3 cup of Organic Brown Flax Seeds
  • Aloe Vera Gel
  • 2 cups of Water
  • small pot to boil seeds and water
  • clean and unused stocking
  • 1 tbsp and a 1/3 measuring cup
  • wooden spoon
  • tongs

Here is everything that I used to make the hair gel.

1/3 cup of flax seeds.

The pot I used to cook the seeds. Place the 2 cups water and seeds into the pot to boil.

I boiled the seeds for about 15-20 minutes.

Before you try to strain the seeds, make sure to have a container that has a top. I placed my clean and unused stocking over the container to act as a strainer.

Next I took the tongs and squeezed the remaining gel from the stocking. Looks slimy, right? *If you do this directly after, be sure to use caution as the gel and seeds are very hot!*

This is what it looked like once I was done with the stocking and tongs.

I plan on using these seeds again to make more hair gel. Simply place the used seeds into a plastic baggy and squeeze the remaining air out. Recycle, reuse, reduce!

After that I added these 3 products to the gel. 1 tbsp of coconut oil, 1 tbsp of aloe vera gel and a few drops of jasmine oil for fragrance.

1 tbsp of coconut oil.

1 tbsp of aloe vera gel and a few shakes of jasmine oil.

Here is the finished gel once everything was stirred together well. Once I was done I placed it in the fridge. It will keep there for about 1 1/2-2 weeks.

The consistency of this gel is kinda slimy and works great for the hair. It leaves my hair feeling soft and give it sooo much curl definition. This works well for slicking the edges down a bit, twist outs, braid outs and flat twists. It will keep in the refrigerator for about 2 weeks and the best thing about it is you can make more whenever you want, add whatever you want and it’s 100% natural!

I really hope that you enjoyed this quick and easy DIY! Don’t be afraid to get in the kitchen and make magic happen!

Until next time! 😉
